I’m Cooking My First Thanksgiving Turkey

I hope it will be epic

Life works in funny ways and doesn’t always play out in the way we envisioned it to be. But that’s what makes it more interesting — the unpredictability of it.

I planned to skip on turkey this Thanksgiving, but as it turns out, we had a change of plans.

The reason I never cooked a turkey before was that our family used to celebrate every Thanksgiving over at our extended family’s house. Usually I would cook a side dish or a dessert and bring it over for all of us to share.

But this time around, due to the pandemic, my husband and I and our two children are staying in our house and it’ll be just four of us.

I was planning not to cook turkey and stick to a few side dishes instead, but my husband insisted that I cook it. It’s his favorite Thanksgiving dish. So two days ago, he went to the store and brought home a 14-lb. bird.

That means today I’ll be cooking my first Thanksgiving turkey ever!
It’ll be an epic experience.

I’m a bit intimidated to cook turkey as I’ve never cooked it before. But when I looked at the whole process, it doesn’t seem super hard. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’ll come out super moist and juicy.
