Sure, the vaccine helps reduce the chances of serious illness.

But in no way should we think that vaccine is the panacea for Covid. It doesn't eradicate the disease, but simply lessens its impact. Virus mutants constantly re-emerge and as more strains come out the vaccine becomes less and less effective.

And now with Delta and Omicron variants, the reason more and more vaccinated people become ill is because the vaccine isn't as effective against new variants as it was for the original variant. And contrary to popular thinking, this is NOT the pandemic of unvaccinated. Faulty vaccinations can also give rise to more variants because when vaccinated people get sick, they can pass it on to others thus spreading the virus. Besides, the same precautions are still held in place for vaccinated people as they are for unvaccinated. At this point in the pandemic, it doesn't matter as much if you're vaccinated or not- you will still get sick. On the other hand, if you're unvaccinated you can still protect yourself simply by avoiding the crowds, wearing a mask and distancing yourself. This is what I've been doing since the beginning of the pandemic and I never got sick.
