Why I’m More Concerned About Climate Change Than Ever Before
Global warming is real and more severe than you think
When I first heard about the California wildfires, I didn’t ever think the wildfire would come to the Carolinas.
Until I heard the latest news on TV — raging fires in the Carolina Forest and people evacuations underway — I had no idea how serious the situation was. According to the Forestry Commission, more than 75 fires spontaneously erupted in South Carolina over the weekend due to gusty winds and dry conditions.
While it hasn’t directly impacted the area where I live, it’s not comforting to know that it isn’t too far from me. Since I live in South Carolina, I feel worried about the possibility of wildfire erupting in my area. I live in a woody secluded area with lots of greenery, forests, and a trail nearby. Wildfires can spontaneously erupt in the southern region if conditions are ripe. If they happened in the Carolina Forest, they could easily erupt anywhere in the southern region under certain conditions. It’s not a question of if, it’s a question of when.
All this to say is that I can’t help but feel concerned about our environment and the world we live in today. I’m worried about the escalating climate crisis. Since this issue is constantly on my mind, I can’t pretend…
